Dave Stitch

Dave (Daev/Dayf) Stitch is the recording pseudonym of UK-based electronic music artist David Brookes

History

Brookes was born in Colchester, Essex in 1979. His twin brother Peter suffered from cerebral palsy due to complications at birth and died in 2002.[1] This has left David a lone twin and has contributed to his heterodoxical outlook.

After a period as a bassist in various bands in the Essex area Dave formed Stitch with Shortfaced Bear and Glitch in 1997. After three years and hundreds of hours of unreleased material recorded onto a minidisc recorder Dayf joined with Headfuk Soundsystem touring relentlessly and appearing at various teknivals such as Czechtek and Florac 2002. [2] He was instrumental in the creation of the first Temporary Autonomous Art exhibitions in London as part of Random Artists where he often performed live sets.

His style is a unique blend of UK Garage, IDM, breakbeats and rave but he has been known to produce a wider spectrum of drum and bass, happy hardcore, ambient and gabba. He has worked with Hue Jah Fink on a variety of tracks under the moniker of The Performing Wrongs Society.[3] Dave has also occasionally released music under the name of Coco Lantano. He currently releases tracks via Bad Sekta[4]
